Upstate Gamers 14U makes the most of six hits in 5-2 victory over Northeast Hurricanes 15U

     Both Upstate Gamers 14U and Northeast Hurricanes 15U put runners aboard on Saturday, but it was Upstate Gamers 14U that was able to take advantage, pulling out a 5-2 win at Moreau Park.

    Northeast Hurricanes 15U had eight hits compared with Upstate Gamers 14U's six, but Northeast Hurricanes 15U stranded nine runners on base.

    Davis Payne racked up two RBIs on two hits for Upstate Gamers 14U. He singled in the third inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

    Alex Schlag kept Northeast Hurricanes 15U off the board during his 6 1/3 innings of work. Alex struck out five and allowed two walks and five hits.

    Upstate Gamers 14U stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring one run on an RBI single by Peter Close.

    Upstate Gamers 14U piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Davis kicked things off with a triple, scoring Garrett Bailey and Peter.

    Two Northeast Hurricanes 15U runs crossed the plate in the top half of the seventh, making the score 5-2. A fielder's choice and an error gave Northeast Hurricanes 15U life. But, Garrett got Jake to strike out to end the game


Upstate Gamers 14U cruises past Northeast Hurricanes 15U, 9-2

     Northeast Hurricanes 15U didn't put up much of a fight on Saturday, as Upstate Gamers 14U cruised to a blowout 9-2 win in seven innings at Moreau Park.

    Upstate Gamers 14U scored three runs in the seventh on and a sacrifice fly by Alex Schlag.

    Peter Close boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Upstate Gamers 14U. He singled in the third and fifth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.

    Jake Defayette put together a nice outing. Northeast Hurricanes 15U managed just two hits off of the Upstate Gamers 14U's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his 3 2/3 innings of work.

    Two runs gave Upstate Gamers 14U a leg up after neither team scored for most of the game. Upstate Gamers 14U got on the board thanks to a wild pitch and an RBI single by Ryan Duda.

    Northeast Hurricanes 15U quickly matched Upstate Gamers 14U's strong inning with a two-run inning of its own in the fourth. Northeast Hurricanes 15U scored on a two-run double by Duncan.

    Upstate Gamers 14U never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring three runs on a groundout by Josh Hipwell and an RBI single by Matt Ferriero.


Offense aplenty in Upstate Gamers 14U's loss to New Bedford, MA

     Upstate Gamers 14U fell 28-14 to New Bedford, MA in five innings on Monday at Manchester, NH despite racking up 10 hits and 14 runs. Jake Defayette racked up five RBIs on two hits for Upstate Gamers 14U. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning. New Bedford, MA hammered Upstate Gamers 14U pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 22 hits, 23 RBIs and 26 runs scored. Home runs for New Bedford, MA came when 23 homered in the first and third innings, 5 homered in the third inning, and 14 homered in the first and fifth innings. New Bedford, MA went up for good in the first, scoring 10 runs on two solo blasts, two sacrifice flys, and two singles. Upstate Gamers 14U got one-run rallies in the first inning and the fifth. In the first, Upstate Gamers 14U scored on a groundout by Jake, bringing home Alex Schlag.

    Five runs in the bottom of the second helped Upstate Gamers 14U close its deficit to 17-6. An RBI single by Alex and a home run by Jake sparked Upstate Gamers 14U's rally. Finally, Methia got Ryan Coffey to ground out to end the threat. After pushing across three runs in the bottom of the third, Upstate Gamers 14U faced just a 21-9 deficit. A fielder's choice, an RBI single by Alex , and a fielder's choice gave Upstate Gamers 14U life. The Upstate Gamers 14U threat came to an end when Methia finally got Andrew Blair to. Four Upstate Gamers 14U runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fourth, making the score 25-13. A passed ball, a two-run home run by Matt Ferriero, and an error fueled Upstate Gamers 14U's comeback. Finally, Methia induced an inning-ending strike out from Josh Hipwell. After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fifth, Upstate Gamers 14U faced just a 28-14 deficit. A groundout by Davis Payne sparked Upstate Gamers 14U's rally. Methia ended the game by getting Matt to ground out.


Ryan Coffey's big day not enough, as Upstate Gamers 14U loses to New Bedford, MA

     Despite a big day at the dish from Ryan Coffey, who finished 2-2, Upstate Gamers 14U lost 12-6 to New Bedford, MA at Manchester, NH on Monday. Home runs for New Bedford, MA came when 14 homered in the third inning and 22 homered in the fifth and seventh innings. New Bedford, MA's 14, 22 and 25 combined for eight hits and eight RBIs. New Bedford, MA didn't relinquish the lead after scoring six runs in the first inning when it scored on two errors, a passed ball, and two singles.

    Five runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Upstate Gamers 14U close its deficit to 9-5. A fielder's choice, a two-run single by Jake Defayette, an RBI single by Matt Ferriero, and triggered Upstate Gamers 14U's comeback. Finally, 35 got Eric Beberwyk to to end the threat. One run in the bottom of the seventh helped Upstate Gamers 14U close its deficit to 12-6. An RBI single by Danny Yankowski sparked Upstate Gamers 14U's rally. Finally, 35 got Ryan Duda to fly out to end the game.


Upstate Gamers 14U outlast New Bedford, MA in high-scoring affair, 10-8
July 28 2013
     Upstate Gamers 14U and New Bedford, MA lit up the scoreboard on Sunday as they combined for 18 runs. In the end, Upstate Gamers 14U won the offensive battle 10-8 in seven innings. The two teams combined for 12 hits in the game. Upstate Gamers 14U staved off New Bedford, MA as New Bedford, MA was unable to match Upstate Gamers 14U down the stretch.

    New Bedford, MA scored on a bases loaded walk by Sauve, a hit by pitch, and a fielder's choice in the fourth inning, a passed ball in the fifth inning, and a single by Ashworth and a two-run double by Breault in the sixth inning. Still, New Bedford, MA couldn't draw even. The top of the first saw New Bedford, MA take an early lead, 1-0. New Bedford, MA got things going when Moraes singled. A stolen base then moved Moraes from first to second. Carreau singled, plating Moraes. Upstate Gamers 14U stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring nine runs on an error, a three-run home run by Garrett Bailey, two singles, and a steal of home by Joe Monaco.


Upstate Gamers 14U offense too much for Brooklyn Bonnie's in 9-1 rout

     Upstate Gamers 14U jumped out to an early lead on Brooklyn Bonnie's and captured a 9-1 victory on Saturday at Manchester, NH. Six runs in the first three innings allowed Upstate Gamers 14U to put the game away early. A groundout by Ryan Duda during the first inning and an error in the second inning supplied the early offense for Upstate Gamers 14U.

    Upstate Gamers 14U was led by a flawless day at the dish by Andrew Blair, who went 3-3 against Brooklyn Bonnie's' pitching. He homered in the third inning and singled in the first and fourth innings. Alex Schlag baffled Brooklyn Bonnie's, striking out seven batters. Alex allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks over seven innings.

    It didn't take long for Upstate Gamers 14U to respond as it scored one run of its own in the first.

     Manchester, NH didn't put up much of a fight on Friday, as Upstate Gamers 14U cruised to a blowout 11-2 win in seven innings at Manchester, NH.

    Jake Defayette racked up three RBIs on three hits for Upstate Gamers 14U. He doubled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and homered in the sixth inning.Garrett Bailey had an impressive outing against Manchester, NH's lineup. Manchester, NH managed just one hit off of the Upstate Gamers 14U's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out 10 during his 5 1/3 innings of work.Upstate Gamers 14U never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on an RBI single by Davis Payne. Upstate Gamers 14U put up one run in each of the second, third and fourth. In the second, Upstate Gamers 14U scored on a groundout by Alex Schlag, bringing home Jake.

     Upstate Gamers 14U and Adirondack Heat both had scoring chances on Sunday, but it was Upstate Gamers 14U that was able to capitalize on them as it pulled out a 5-3 win at Round Lake.

    Adirondack Heat out-hit Upstate Gamers 14U six to five, but Adirondack Heat stranded seven runners on base.

    Upstate Gamers 14U staved off Adirondack Heat as Adirondack Heat was unable to match Upstate Gamers 14U down the stretch.

    Adirondack Heat scored on a sacrifice fly by Benson in the fourth inning, a fielder's choice in the sixth inning, and a groundout by Munro in the seventh inning. Still, Adirondack Heat couldn't catch Upstate Gamers 14U.

    Eric Beberwyk was solid at the plate for Upstate Gamers 14U. Eric went 2-3 and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

     Upstate Gamers 14U scattered four hits on Sunday, but weren't able to push enough runs across, and lost 7-1 to Adirondack Heat at Round Lake.

    Garrett Bailey was solid at the plate for Upstate Gamers 14U. Garrett went 1-3 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth inning.

    Adirondack Heat went up for good in the first, scoring seven runs on a passed ball, a sacrifice fly by Debrino, two singles, and three bases loaded walks.

    Upstate Gamers 14U scored its only run of the game on an RBI single byAndrew Blair in the fourth inning.


Early lead gives Upstate Gamers 14U easy victory over Tri-City Bombers, 15-3

     Upstate Gamers 14U jumped out to an early lead on Tri-City Bombers and captured a 15-3 victory on Sunday at Round Lake.

    Eight runs in the first three innings allowed Upstate Gamers 14U to put the game away early.

    An RBI single by Ryan Coffey, an RBI single by Eric Beberwyk, an RBI single by Josh Hipwell, a walk by Alex Schlag, and a fielder's choice in the second inning helped Upstate Gamers 14U put some runs on the board early.

    Upstate Gamers 14U was led by a flawless day at the dish by Eric, who went 2-2 against Tri-City Bombers' pitching.

    The top of the first saw Tri-City Bombers take an early lead, 3-0. A double by Sischo, plating Fitzgerald started the inning off. More runs came home for Tri-City Bombers when Delano and Sischo scored on a two-run single by Low.

    Upstate Gamers 14U tacked on another three runs in the third. A passed ball scored Peter Close to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Tanner Dunkel's double, scoring Eric and Jake Defayette.

    Upstate Gamers 14U added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Andrew Blair kicked things off with a double, scoring Garrett Bailey.


Upstate Gamers 14U seize victory thanks to late passed ball, drop Amsterdam A's 5-4

     After seven lead changes in Saturday's game at Shuttleworth Park, Upstate Gamers 14U finally pulled out a 5-4 win over Amsterdam A's.

    Upstate Gamers 14U pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. A passed ball scored Garrett Bailey to give Upstate Gamers 14U the lead for good.

    Garrett did his best to jumpstart the offense for Upstate Gamers 14U, reaching base four times. He singled in the seventh inning.

    Amsterdam A's jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.Sherlock singled to ignite Amsterdam A's' offense. A groundout by Pingitorethen moved Sherlock from first to second. Crawford singled, plating Sherlock.

    Upstate Gamers 14U got two-run rallies in the second inning and the seventh. In the second, Upstate Gamers 14U scored on an RBI single by Peter Close, scoring Ryan Coffey.

    The seventh spelled defeat for Amsterdam A's, as Upstate Gamers 14U grabbed the lead for good. More runners rounded the bases on an RBI single by Davis Payne.


Upstate Gamers 14U offense too much for Saratoga Stampede in 12-2 rout

     Upstate Gamers 14U shut the door early on Saratoga Stampede, capturing a 12-2 victory on Wednesday at Devil Cats Stadium.

    With 10 runs in the first three innings, Upstate Gamers 14U left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

    An RBI double by Andrew Blair and an RBI single by Ryan Duda during the first inning and an error and a sacrifice fly by Josh Hipwell in the second inning supplied the early offense for Upstate Gamers 14U.

    Andrew had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.

    Alex Schlag was a workhorse on the rubber for Upstate Gamers 14U. Alex pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, seven hits and one walk while striking out five.

    Upstate Gamers 14U's Garrett Bailey, Andrew and Eric Beberwyk combined for five hits and five RBIs.

    The top of the first saw Saratoga Stampede take an early lead, 2-0. 7 kicked things off for Saratoga Stampede with a single. A double by 2 then moved seven from first to third. Saratoga Stampede added more runs when two scored on an RBI single by 34.

    After a quick strike from Saratoga Stampede, Upstate Gamers 14U responded with two runs in the first.

    Upstate Gamers 14U built upon its lead with six runs in the third. Eric started the inning with a double, plating Ryan Coffey.

    Upstate Gamers 14U tacked on another two runs in the sixth. Ryan Coffey kicked things off with a single, scoring Davis Payne.

    Ryan Duda racked up two RBIs on two hits for Upstate Gamers 14U. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.

    Joe Monaco looked sharp on the mound. Joe held Amsterdam A's hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

    Upstate Gamers 14U tacked on another five runs in the fifth. A error scored Joe to get Upstate Gamers 14U on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Ryan Duda's single, bringing home Andrew Blair.

      The DT Bombers had a tough outing on Sunday, as Upstate Gamers 14U dominated in a 10-4 win in seven innings at Newburgh, NY.

    Upstate Gamers 14U scored three runs in the sixth on a groundout by Peter Close and a two-run double by Garrett Bailey.

    Andrew Blair racked up four RBIs on two hits for Upstate Gamers 14U. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.

    In the top of the first, the Bombers grabbed the early lead, 4-0. Two consecutive singles got things started for the Bombers. More runs came home for the Bombers when #2 scored on an error, #3 scored on a sacrifice fly by #5, and #4 scored on an RBI single by #6.

    Upstate Gamers 14U never trailed after scoring three runs in the fifth on a passed ball, a groundout by Andrew, and an RBI single by Davis Payne.

      Joe Monaco went 2-2, sparking Upstate Gamers 14U to a 9-5 victory in six innings over the Swarm on Sunday at Newburgh, NY.

    He tripled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.

    Garrett Bailey brought the heat against the Swarm during his outing. Garrett held NY Swarm hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four.

    In the top of the first, the Swarm grabbed the early lead, 5-0. #1 singled to ignite the offense. Then moved up one base from first to second. #3 singled, bringing home one. The Swarm then tacked on more runs when two scored on a wild pitch, #3 scored on a walk by #7, #4 scored on a walk by #8, and #6 scored on a walk by #10.

    Upstate Gamers 14U's Joe Monaco was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the second, third, and fifth innings.

    Upstate Gamers 14U added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. A steal of home scored Andrew Blair to get Upstate Gamers 14U on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Ryan Duda's single, scoring Davis Payne and Joe.

      An eight-run explosion in the fourth inning carried Upstate Gamers 14U to a 10-1 win in five innings over the Frozen Rope Rockies at Newburgh, NY on Saturday.

    Joe Monaco racked up two RBIs on three hits for Upstate Gamers 14U. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and fourth innings.

    Upstate Gamers 14U scored four runs in the second on an RBI single by Peter Close, an RBI single by Eric Beberwyk, , and an RBI double by Andrew Blair.

    Beberwyk racked up two RBIs on two hits for Upstate Gamers 14U.

    Garrett Bailey brought the heat against the Halfmoon Mariners during his outing. Bailey held the Halfmoon Mariners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

    Upstate Gamers 14U brought home three runs in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the fifth, Upstate Gamers 14U scored on a groundout by Davis Payne, bringing home Bailey.

      Upstate Gamers 14U refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Columbia Clippers, recording a 20-6 victory on Saturday at Ichabod Crane HS.

    Ten runs in the first three innings allowed Upstate Gamers 14U to put the game away early.

    A two-run double by Andrew Blair, an RBI single by Davis Payne, a passed ball, and a wild pitch in the first inning and an RBI single by Joe Monaco during the second inning supplied the early offense for Upstate Gamers 14U.

    Blair racked up four RBIs on four hits for Upstate Gamers 14U.

    Upstate Gamers 14U pounded Columbia Clippers pitching, as six hitters combined for 17 hits, 13 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

    Four relief pitchers made sure the win didn't fall through the cracks for Upstate Gamers 14U. Jake DeFayette faced six batters in relief, while Payne managed to record three outs to aid the victory.

     A four-run explosion in the fourth inning lifted Upstate Gamers 14U to a 6-0 win in seven innings over Devil Cats at Round Lake on Saturday.


Upstate Gamers 14U tops Devil Cats (Red) in back-and-forth affair, 5-4

     Upstate Gamers 14U outlasted Devil Cats on Saturday after seven lead changes, squeaking out a 5-4 win at Round Lake.

    Upstate Gamers 14U took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. Upstate Gamers 14U scored on an RBI single by Davis Payne off Josh Moon, plating Ryan Duda.

    Payne racked up two RBIs on two hits for Upstate Gamers 14U.

    Jake DeFayette worked out of eight tough spots for Upstate Gamers 14U. He pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits. DeFayette faced his most difficult moment in the fifth inning.

    The bottom of the first saw Upstate Gamers 14U take an early lead, 1-0.

    Devil Cats scored two runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with two more in the fifth. In the third, Devil Cats scored on a wild pitch, scoring Caleb Smith.
Upstate Gamers 14U offense too much for NY Swing Away Stars in 10-0 rout

     Upstate Gamers 14U jumped out to an early lead on NY Swing Away Stars and captured a 10-0 victory on Sunday at Noyes Park.

    The game was decided quickly as Upstate Gamers 14U exerted its will early with seven runs in the first three innings.

    An RBI single by Alex Schlag, an error, a wild pitch, and an RBI single by Davis Payne during the second inning helped Upstate Gamers 14U put some runs on the board early. Joe Monaco went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for Upstate Gamers 14U. He singled in the second and third innings.

    Upstate Gamers 14U increased its lead with two runs in the third. A ground out scored Monaco to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Schlag's single, scoring Close.

    Upstate Gamers 14U tacked on another three runs in the fourth. A clutch sacrifice fly scored Andrew Blair to open the scoring in the frame.


Upstate Gamers 14U defeats NY Swing Away Stars after late game single, 5-2

     Upstate Gamers 14U and NY Swing Away Stars passed the lead back and forth five times on Sunday at Noyes Park, but in the end Upstate Gamers 14U pulled out a 5-2 win in seven innings over NY Swing Away Stars.

    Upstate Gamers 14U was led by Joe Monaco's hitting. Monaco went 2-2, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second and sixth innings.

    The bottom of the second saw NY Swing Away Stars take an early lead, 1-0.

    It didn't take long for NY Swing Away Stars to respond as it scored one run of its own in the fourth. NY Swing Away Stars scored on a steal of home by 6.

    Upstate Gamers 14U went up for good in the sixth, scoring three runs on an error and two singles.
